SIT (School Improvement Team)

School Improvement Team (SIT)

The HS SIT is comprised of 6 tenured faculty representatives elected to 4 year terms, 1 staff representative who serves a 4 year term, 1 parent representative who serves a 1 year term, the Dean of Students, the Principal, and 2 student representatives who each serve 2 year terms.

The High School Improvement Team’s purpose comes from the State Education Department’s Commissioner’s regulations on shared decision-making which reads: The purpose of school-based planning and shared decision making shall be to improve the educational performance of all students in the school, regardless of such factors as socioeconomic status, race, sex, language background, or disability.  The mission of the Avon High School “School Improvement Team” is to promote an environment that maximizes academic performance for all. All meeting agendas and minutes can be found on the shared drive.
