Spring musical reveal: Round 1 winners announced

We’re well on our way to knowing our high school drama club’s 2027 spring musical!

This year, instead of just announcing the musical outright, Mrs. Stephanie Campbell and Mrs. Kim Miron decided to pit 16 musical possibilities against each other in a winner-takes-all tournament-style bracket.

Campbell and Miron revealed the first round winners on Wednesday:

• “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” defeated “West Side Story”

• “Matilda: The Musical” beat “Into the Woods”

• “Footloose: The Musical” defeated “Oklahoma!”

• “Once Upon a Mattress” got the win over “Disaster!”

• “Mary Poppins” beat “My Fair Lady”

• “The Sound of Music” defeated “Rock of Ages”

• “The Wizard of Oz” beat “Anything Goes”

• “Cinderella” was victorious over “Newsies”

Quarterfinal winners will be announced bright and early Friday morning, so stay tuned!
