One last congratulations for our own Avon Middle School Principal, Mrs. Jennifer Miller, who traveled to Albany earlier this month to accept the 2026 Outstanding Educator of the Year Award from the School Administrators Association of New York State!

This award is presented annually to one SAANYS member from across the state who’s made outstanding contributions to New York schools through public education, professional organizations or research and writings in the field of education.

In her acceptance speech, Miller called the recognition “incredibly meaningful” and thanked her colleagues before reflecting on her late father, a lifelong educator whose influence Miller still carries with her to this day. 

“What he taught me continues to shape everything I do,” she said. “I carry him with me in this work in the way I build relationships and the way I lead with purpose. This award means so much to me because it reflects not only his influence, but also the many people who have shaped and supported me along the way.”
