Board recognizes PageTurners teams following winning seasons

Posted Date: 05/13/26 (01:40 PM)

Members of our Board of Education recognized our Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 PageTurners teams at their regularly scheduled meeting last night to congratulate them on their 2025-26 seasons!

PageTurners is a literature-based competition that challenges teams from across the region to answer trivia questions about works they’ve read over the past few months.

Our Chapter 1 team consists of students in grades 3 through 5 who are selected by teacher recommendation while our Chapter 2 team consists of students in grades 6 through 8 who’ve expressed an interest in joining the team.

“This year, both our teams won their divisions, which qualified them to compete in the regional competitions,” said Middle School Library Media Specialist Jessica Mucci, who coaches both teams. “I want to give a special shout out to the Chapter 2 team who achieved all those accomplishments with only 3 members on their team! The Chapter 1 team had a strong showing with 29 members! This is a huge accomplishment for both teams and I am so proud of their hard work, dedication, and perseverance.”

During the meeting, 5th grader Nora P., who’s competed with PageTurners for the past two years, shared with our board members what she likes best about the club.

“One reason why I love PageTurners is the way it challenges us, like reading really hard books. I also love the competitions and sharing my ideas with other people on the team. I have made so many new friends this way,” Nora said. “Since being on PageTurners, I have become better at reading. I’ve learned some new words that I didn’t know, which really helped me improve my grades. I have so many great memories so far on PageTurners but my favorite is looking back on the books I have really enjoyed. Some of these books are ‘Wish’ by Barbara O’Connor, and ‘The Terrible Two’ by Mac Barnett and Jory John. PageTurners has really helped me learn not to judge a book by its cover.”
