Flag football earns 'senior night' win
A belated congratulations to our flag football seniors - Rylee N. and Olivia S. - who were recognized at halftime during the Hawks’ final home game of the season, a 19-7 win over Geneseo on May 5.
Leading the way for the Hawks defensively May 5 were Olivia C. and Megan K., who had 8 and 6 flag pulls, respectively.
Aiyanna B. contributed with 5 flag pulls - 3 of them for a loss - while Olivia S. had 3 flag pulls and one of the Hawks’ three interceptions on the night, the others coming via heads up plays from Alaney G. and Bridget R.
Offensively, Olivia S. went 3-10 passing for 48 yards and 2 scores and also rushed 6 times for 20 yards.
Megan K. had 109 yards on 15 carries while Rylee N. and Bridget R. both hauled in touchdown passes.
Olivia C. finished with 44 yards and a score on 14 carries while Alaney G. caught 2 passes for 27 yards.
“This was probably our best all-around performance of the year against a really tough Geneseo team,” said Head Coach Justin Dueppengiesser. “I'm super excited we got to celebrate Olivia and Rylee and get a win for them. They've been with the program since its inception three years ago and have been great leaders for our program.”
The Hawks finished their regular season at 4-8 to earn the #8 seed in the Section V Class C2 tournament. They’re next in action Thursday, May 14 at home against Rochester Academy Charter School in the C2 pre-quarterfinals.
Fly high, Hawks!
