WATCH NOW: STEM students compete at 'Tech Wars'

Posted Date: 03/24/26 (10:34 AM)

We had about 30 students travel to Genesee Community College last week to compete in Tech Wars, an annual event that pits students from school districts across the region against each other in a variety of STEM-based competitions.

Avon students competed in the sculpture competition, logo design, C02 car races, bridge load competition, trebuchet throw and skimmer car races.

We’ve got to throw a special shout out to seniors Peyton C., Vincent D. and Joe H., whose balsa wood bridge - despite being a bit too heavy and failing to meet the 5-inch minimum opening requirement - still supported the maximum 400 lbs of weight at Tech Wars last week at GCC. You can watch their bridge testing, and a few of our students' C02 car races, in the video below!
