Freshmen explore cultures with interview projects

Posted Date: 03/16/26 (10:50 AM)

A belated shout out to Mrs. Emily Schroeder’s freshman global history students who presented their interview projects last month in our high school library.

Each year, Schroeder tasks her students with gathering stories from people who’ve lived overseas such as veterans, refugees and immigrants as part of a research project for global history class.

Beyond exploring the people, culture, and history of foreign nations, Schroeder said the assignment aims to encourage students to preserve personal histories for future generations, form meaningful connections to significant 20th-century events, develop skills in conducting interviews and gathering authentic documents, and deepen their understanding, appreciation, and preservation of the stories shared by their relatives and neighbors.
