Board of Education names new Executive Director of Financial Operations
We’re thrilled to announce that our Board of Education has named Mr. Eric Spanbauer as our district’s Executive Director of Financial Operations.
“Eric is well-equipped to step into this new role,” said Board President Rodney George. “He comes to Avon after successfully working in the Boston area private sector before returning to his native Western New York to earn certification as a business education teacher. He’s worked as both a teacher and athletic coach for six years and, in the process, earned multiple certifications in school administration. Most recently, he’s served as the budget coordinator for Greece Central School District for the past 2-1/2 years, so we’re excited to have such a qualified professional in line to take the helm here in Avon.”
Members of our Board of Education voted unanimously to hire Spanbauer at their Dec. 15 meeting following a rigorous hiring process. He’s set to begin in his new role Feb. 1 and will participate in the development of our annual school budget.
“We went through multiple rounds of screenings, full committee interviews, several office-related tasks, reference checks and a finalist interview that included a day in the district both interviewing and interacting with numerous prospective colleagues,” said Superintendent Dr. Ryan Pacatte. “I speak for our entire board in expressing our utmost confidence in Eric and would like to welcome him to Avon Central Schools.”
Kristen Murphy, our current business manager, will stay on in her role through June 30, 2026 to assist with the transition. When Murphy eventually retires, she’ll do so with more than two decades of distinguished service as a school business official in our region, including 18 here at Avon Central Schools.
“Kristen’s retirement is significant for the Avon Central School District,” said Pacatte. “Her knowledge, caring, talent, work ethic, leadership, sense of humor and unquestioned integrity will be missed, though not just yet!”
