Your Avon River Hawks wrapped up a successful league season this weekend at the GRAA-LCAA Cross Country Championships, held on the scenic campus of Wayland-Cohocton. The sunny, brisk morning provided excellent conditions for strong performances on the partially wooded course.

On the boys’ side, Wyatt K. led the way with a strong 6th-place finish in a time of 16:57, followed closely by Luigi M. in 7th at 17:04. Owen H. finished 27th, Mitchell B. 70th, Hunter P. 79th, Ben K. 126th and Juan L. 139th.

The boys’ team also captured the Division I Title for the league and placed three All-Stars for the season: Wyatt, Luigi and Owen.

On the girls’ side, Maria G., unfazed by a bloody nose, turned in an outstanding race, finishing 2nd in a field of 93 runners.

Quinn K. ran a strong race to place 35th in 22:59, while Savannah S. and Quinn F. delivered solid efforts, placing 88th and 99th, respectively. Maria also earned All-Star recognition for her outstanding performances throughout the season.
