Your Avon River Hawks head to Honeoye Falls tomorrow night to take on the defending New York State Class B Champion Wellsville Lions for the Section V Class B2 Title!
The #3-seeded Hawks booked their finals berth with a 6-3 win over #2 seed Wayland-Cohocton Tuesday night.
Wellsville, the #1 seed, bring an 18-2 record to the matchup. The Lions brushed aside #4 seed Le Roy 7-0 in its semifinal Tuesday and have yet to allow a run in the B2 tournament. Across their 20 games this season, Wellsville is averaging more than 10 runs per game while giving up less than 2.
Avon will bring a 15-3 record with them to the finals and while our offensive output isn’t at Wellsville’s level - the Hawks are averaging just shy of 6 runs per game - they’re barely giving up a run per game behind junior standout Jessie C.’s rock-solid pitching.
Tomorrow’s final starts at 7:15 p.m. at Honeoye Falls-Lima Middle School, 619 Quaker Meeting House Rd.
Tickets are $7.30 and can be purchased online through GoFan at the link below.
This is going to be a good one, Avon, and only a quick 20-minute drive away, so come on out and help our girls bring home that brick!
