'Serve for a Cure' volleyball game is Sept. 28

PLEASE SHARE: On Monday, Sept. 28, our varsity volleyball squad will face off against Pavilion in their ‘Serve for a Cure’ game to raise awareness and funds in the fight against ovarian cancer. 

The game starts at 6:30 p.m. in our high school gymnasium, 245 Clinton St., Avon. 

The game is being held in remembrance of Mallory Long.

Once a Spanish teacher in our high school, Long was diagnosed with cancer in December 2024 and, in the months that followed, “Long Strong” became something of a slogan throughout our district. 

Long died from the disease in November 2025 at the age of 37. 

All proceeds from donations, concessions and basket raffle sales will go to the Ovarian Cancer Project, a non-profit that provides education on the symptoms and risk factors of ovarian cancer and all gynecologic cancers as well as supportive services to survivors and their families experiencing such diseases.

We hope you’ll join us on Sept. 28 and help us make this a meaningful night for our school and community.
