WATCH NOW: Agriculture-marketing collab yields sweet success

Posted Date: 06/26/26 (03:09 PM)

A collaboration between Mrs. Mary Keymel’s intro to agriculture class and Mrs. Leigh Major’s marketing class led to some sweet success earlier this month.

As part of their unit on dairy this school year, Keymel’s students created their own original ice cream flavors.

One group’s flavor - GingerBread House - proved particularly delicious, so Keymel approached Major about having her marketing students create a campaign in support of the flavor.

The pair entered the ice cream and its supporting marketing campaign in the New York Ag In the Classroom Ice Cream Challenge and it won, taking first place in the high school division and earning a $250 prize that can be used to fund future classroom projects.

Congratulations to our winning students!

Madilyn P., Lucy B. and Myra T. created the ice cream flavor in Keymel’s ag class while marketing students Caitlin M., Aariana A., Sophie D., Joseph H. and Kyle N. took the lead on creating pitch materials such as product packaging, a slogan - “Decorate your tastebuds with festive holiday flavor,” - print advertising materials and even a hype video, which we’ve shared here.
