Good Morning !

I hope you are staying safe and well.

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield is staying close to local COVID-19 education and vaccination efforts.

It’s important that we work together to help families make informed decisions about how and where to get their child vaccinated if they’re interested in doing so.

The attached FAQ answers questions about COVID-19 vaccination for school-age children. English and Spanish versions will be available on the website soon.

COVID-19 Vaccine Resources

We have additional resources, available in English and Spanish, on our COVID-19 website

Recent education updates include:

Do I Really Need the Vaccine? (Video)

What to expect after receiving the vaccine (PDF)

Getting vaccinated is becoming more convenient as New York State, many counties, and many pharmacies are now scheduling appointments:

  • Use the CDC Vaccine Finder website, or text-based location finder.

    • Text GETVAX (438829) for English or VACUNA (822862) for Spanish and enter your zip code for a list of locations near you

  • The NYS Vaccination Website and Hotline are also available:

1-833-NYS-4VAX (1-833-697-4829)

As a reminder, the Pfizer vaccine is authorized for use for ages 12 and older. The Moderna and J&J vaccines are authorized for use for ages 18 and older.

If you have suggestions for how we could help with vaccine education efforts, or if you think your families are having difficulty accessing the vaccine, we appreciate your input. Please email or call me at (585) 406-3663 or
