Restorative Practices

The RCA : Restorative Community of Avon

The RCA (also known as the Avon Restorative Practice Project) is a district-wide committee dedicated to supporting teachers and administrators in Restorative Practices and Circles. The committee meets bimonthly to assess need for training, collect data, and provide training opportunities to help staff and administrators use restorative practices effectively.

The RCA began as a pilot program over 15 years ago with the goal of guiding Avon to become a “restorative school” under the guidance of  the Partners in Restorative Initiatives (PIRI). The goals of the committee and the district is for the school to use Circles and other Restorative Practices to build relationships, celebrate success, understand each other, the curriculum and the larger community around us. Students and staff meet 5 times a year during Braves Breaks to build community and camaraderie. Faculty also use Academic Circles to maximize discussions and instruction. Membership is open to any interested faculty and staff.
