High School Principal Ryan Wagner named NYSSCA ‘Administrator of the Year’

Posted Date: 11/18/25 (04:17 PM)

It’s with immense pride that we announce our high school principal, Mr. Ryan Wagner, has been named Administrator of the Year by the New York State School Counselor Association.

Presented annually, the award recognizes one building, department or district leader across New York State who’s provided “outstanding support of the school counseling profession.”

Wagner was presented with his award at a Nov. 14 ceremony at the Riverside Convention Center in Rochester.

In their nominating materials, members of our high school counseling office cited Wagner’s service on our district’s School Counselor Advisory Board, his efforts implementing the RULER social-emotional learning program and the launch of our district’s Early College High School initiative as just some of his many contributions to Avon Central Schools that warranted recognition.

“Through these efforts, Ryan exemplifies what it means to lead with vision and equity, ensuring that every student has access to the resources, support and opportunities they need to maximize achievement and prepare for life beyond high school,” wrote our counseling department. “Through his leadership, the counseling program has become a model of alignment between regulation and meaningful practice, ensuring that every student has equitable access to the support and opportunities they need to thrive. His commitment, advocacy and collaborative spirit make him an exceptional candidate for Administrator of the Year.”

Congratulations to Mr. Wagner on this well-deserved recognition.

Avon’s lucky to have you!
