The holiday season is upon us and our student musicians have been practicing hard for their upcoming concerts.

This year’s band concert, which in the past was typically held in January, will instead be held in December, said band teacher Charlotte Collins.

“When we were looking at dates for this school year, I really wanted to move it to give the students a concert in the first half of the year,” said Collins, a middle and high school band teacher. “Plus, I think it is nice to be able to program some holiday music!”

Avon’s holiday band concert is set for Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium. The following groups will perform:

  • 5th/6th Grade Band (under the direction of  Meaghan Stambaugh)

  • Junior Band (7th and 8th grade, under the direction of Charlotte Collins)

  • Senior Band (9th through 12th grade, under the direction of Charlotte Collins)

Avon’s holiday chorus concert is Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. - likewise in the Middle School Auditorium. The following groups will perform:

  • 5th/6th Grade Chorus (under the direction of Kristen Maxfield)
