Members of Avon's Interact Club create care packages and thank you cards at their meeting Monday that will be sent to U.S. servicemembers stationed overseas.

At a meeting of the Avon Rotary Interact Club earlier this week, members helped the Daughters of the American Revolution Ska-Hase-Go-O chapter in Lima complete care packages and write thank you notes for members of the U.S. Armed Forces who are stationed overseas.

The packages were a part of Operation Cool Down which supplied troops in Kenya with things to help keep them cool, like mini fans and wipes. The Interact Club also donated $150 to the DAR to help defray the cost of shipping the care packages overseas.

“We were so glad to help and to provide some of the shipping costs,” said Karen Vanderbilt, an Avon rotarian and member of Avon’s Board of Education. “Thank you to DAR Chapter Regent Stephanie Dempsey and the Daughters of the American Revolution for giving us this service opportunity and thank you to the troops for all their service!”
