Avon Community:

As it relates to COVID, news is circulating that in Nassau County issued a ruling overturning masks in public places.  Still another court In Albany County recently upheld this same regulation.

Nearly immediately in response to the news circulating, schools received a communication from the State Education Department tonight that indicated that: "the Department of Health will appeal the Nassau County Supreme Court decision, which will result in an automatic stay that will unambiguously restore the mask rule until such time as an appellate court issues a further ruling.  Therefore, schools must continue to follow the mask rule."

Unfortunately, this has been a common occurrence .  Sometimes it takes a few days before the actual guidelines are communicated as  a result of the headlines.  Avon will continue with its masking protocols until the matter is sorted out.  We ask for your continued patience.

Here is the response from the New York State School Boards Association:

Thank you.
