The work of Foster Grandparents is highly valued at Avon Primary School.

The Foster Grandparent Program is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service. It was designed to interact senior citizens with school age children. The grandparents must be at least sixty years old and be willing to come to school each day for 4-5 hours. Typically, they arrive a few minutes before the school day begins and stay until 1:30 pm. Their involvement with the children may vary from classroom to classroom. They may read stories, listen to a child read, or review skills taught by the teacher. Whatever their involvement, it is always with a great deal of tender loving care. We currently have two foster grandparents working at the Avon Primary School. If you are interested in becoming a foster grandparent please contact Mrs. Deborah Gage at 243-7517.
