Elementary School » Student Placement
At the conclusion of each school year, many parents begin thinking about the following school year and where their child might be placed. Should you have information that you wish to present regarding the placement of your child, you are encouraged to do so in writing and forward it to the building principal no later than June 1. A form is available for parents at the bottom of this page. Parents may request a type of classroom, or type of teacher for their child. Please do not name a specific teacher. The teachers and other professionals that work with your child will meet in June to recommend the placement of children and the information on parent forms will be taken into consideration. Our goal is to achieve the most appropriate and beneficial placement for all children. The information you may provide, combined with our school knowledge, will assist in this process. Many factors are taken into consideration during the placement process. These include such things as: gender, academic ability across the content areas, behavior, social and emotional needs, peer relationships, special services, medical and physical needs, and learning styles. All of the classroom and remediation teachers meet and discuss each and every student with these factors in mind. They consult with any staff members who have knowledge of particular students and they then draw up recommended lists with the principal's assistance. The unique needs of each individual student are considered as the class lists take shape. If you feel that you have information about your child pertinent to the process, please make sure to complete the form, and return it to the Primary School Main Office by June 1. Whichever class your child is assigned to, you can be assured that we will do our best to help your child have a positive experience. We appreciate your help in the placement process and encourage parents to complete the form.
